Hello Leo,

Well it's been almost a year since I contacted you regarding my Onhold
project. I have completed the changes you requested, minus the amplifier
and PCB.

A small stereo Amp is redundant as CDROM devices already come with that.
This project is designed to have an audio cable going directly from the
CDROM panel to a phone system. Besides, there are already countless
amplifier modules that people can build.

As for the PCB- I don't have the facilities to make PCB's.. and I'm on a
very limited budget. Although, this project looks very crappy, I spent the
last of my money getting it this far, and I'm so busy with other projects
at work. I've been working on R2 on and off for the past 7 months. I'm
right out of time now.

I'm sorry if it fails the mark. It's the best I can do ! ;). I doubt if
this will make the grade of a presented project, but I think it would be
good in your Circuit Notebook section ??.

So Leo, it's over to you ;). Do what you will with it ! ;).

Setup Instructions-
------------------

You'll need a 12-16V DC power supply that can supply a 1 AMP load. My
tests show that the device uses about 0.6A on average across a whole range
of CDROM devices, and peeks to about 1.5A during power up. Connect the
power supply up to the tinned cables on the RCA plug provided.

Next get an ATAPI/ATA (IDE) CDROM device (an old one out of a computer
will do), and plug the ATA cable and power plug into the back of it. Make
sure the CDROM is set to Master. If you set it to Cable Select or Slave,
the controller won't detect it.

Operation-
---------

Power it on. The LCD display should come to life. First it comes up with a
splash logo- "-= Onhold R2 =- By Jason Nunn". After that, the unit will
initialise ("Initing" & "Identifying xxxxxxxx"). If there's a CDROM disc
in the unit, it will begin to play it, if not it will prompt you to insert
one ("Insert CD if not inserted").

When it detects a CD, it will read the Table of Contents ("Reading TOC
xxxxxxxx"). It will then play the CD from start to finish. After it gets
to the end of the CD, it will start playing it from the beginning.

Pressing the NEXT button will play the next track.

Enjoy !.

Regards.
